The Plurima Project and all the operational tools devised and deployed originate in the social sphere and, more precisely, from a shared awareness of the evident involution that Europe is experiencing.
The Old Continent was for a long time the cradle of Thought, the place where Man came to know himself, his limits but also his dignity; despite a thousand errors and sufferings, it was here that the habeas corpus and the Rights of Man were born, achievements that for centuries have been a true reference point for many peoples. Here, Man was able to admirably develop the Arts and build a heritage of fundamental knowledge available to all Humanity.
Things, however, have suddenly changed.
We think that Europe is living one of its worst moments in history, forcibly distanced from its spiritual and cultural roots, and driven towards visions and policies that are totally alien – if not contrary – to its own history and interests.
The rule of law, the welfare state and fundamental freedoms have been heavily emptied of meaning: years of emergencies, real or presumed, have undermined, perhaps irreparably, their foundations.
For a long time, moreover, policies of division and confusion have been cultivated within our societies: the result is that today our societies are divided and confused.
And even at the international level we have unfortunately revealed not only our real interpretation of the law (which now appears to be the law of the strongest) but also a surprising aggressive attitude towards any position that is not perfectly aligned with our interests and expectations. ‘Surprisingly’ because, in recent history, many European countries have often distinguished themselves for their mediation skills and peace initiatives.
In all this, in all this ethical and social ‘ugliness’, the presence and direction of supranational subjects who now act in the light of day for the preservation and strengthening of their own power is evident. Dividing Nations. Dividing Peoples. And dividing People.
However, we think that this path of decay and decline is not ineluctable, that the outcome is not so predictable.
And we think that precisely our history, precisely the inestimable classical tradition from which we all descend can help us, rightly so with the maxim of Appius Claudius Ciecus, ‘homo faber suae fortunae’: man is the author of his own destiny. Even when all seems lost. Even when the night is darkest.
Plurima is exactly that: a social and economic project that wants to believe in the possibilities of Man and tries to write a piece of history, original and unprecedented, in our respective countries. And it does so by overturning the two concepts underlying the current decay.
Instead of confrontation and division, we recover and relaunch the idea of collaboration and union of multiple subjects (hence the name ‘Plurima’). And we do this strategically by supporting and involving the unitary subjects by definition, namely the Associations.
In place of the progressive decay, we recover and relaunch the creative power of beauty and truth, as a source of inspiration both in the identification of social objectives and in the implementation of the instruments designed to achieve them. Our main focus: young people. We will invest significant financial resources to help them develop a deep and independent critical thinking.
In the realisation of the Social and Economic Project, our cornerstones are the freedom of each individual to decide his or her own destiny, the irreplaceable role of the family as the cornerstone of society and the social dimension of work and the economy.
We needed a project, an organisation and appropriate economic resources: that is why Plurima was born.
